Casual Voices: Estelle
I want to thank the NTEU for lobbying the School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry at Sydney University in order to achieve better pay rates for casual tutors. This semester I will be paid for half an hour each essay that I mark. As an experienced tutor, this is wonderful situation to finally find myself in. I always provided extensive feedback to my students on their essays, knowing that much of my time spent in doing so would, effectively, be free labor. It is a delight to sit down with an essay, provide the detailed feedback that I have always provided - but this time, know that my work is valued. Thanks so much,

Have something to say? Add your voiceI am not invited to any meetings, and this year not even to the Christmas party or convening meeting for the program. It is useful to go, if only to be seen by the Head of School, but I never get paid if I do go.
